The environmental test chambers ordered by Institute 703 of CASC — a high temperature test chamber and a high/low temperature damp heat test chamber — have now been successfully accepted and put into service!
The Academy of Aerospace Materials and Processing Technology (CASC Institute 703), under the First Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (i.e., China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology), was founded on December 3, 1957. It currently has more than 2,000 employees, with scientific and technical personnel accounting for about 60%, including more than 400 doctoral and master's degree holders. The institute's first president was Qian Xuesen (Hsue-shen Tsien).
Institute 703 covers multiple specialties including metallic materials, composite materials, welding technology, inorganic non-metallic materials, polymer materials, and testing. It engages in the development of aerospace materials and process research, and serves as the materials and processing center institute and the material performance testing and failure analysis center of China's aerospace system, the composite material and component development center in the Beijing region. It has been designated as the special welding technology center, non-destructive testing technology center, composite component machining technology center and surface engineering technology center of the aerospace system, and hosts the national defense science and technology key laboratory of “advanced functional composite materials”.
